Shameless Plug to Raise Money for MS

Sponsor my brother. He likes trees! These are trees in Deep Creek, Maryland. Hi Jay!

My brother's not Jay, he's Tom.

Dear Friends and Family,

The National MS Society is kicking off our annual Bike MS: Escape to the Lake (Erie) event. I am planning to be a part of that event and I am asking you to join me in the fight against MS by making a contribution to support my effort.

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is dedicated to ending the devastating effects of MS. They simultaneously fund research for a cure while also helping people who currently live with MS lead more fulfilling lives. I believe in the work they do, and I invite you to see for yourself all the good they've done for the MS community. More than 400,000 Americans live with MS, and your support can and will make changes in their lives.

Please help by making a donation - large or small - to fight MS. Or, why not join me on the day of the event? Become a participant and side by side, as teammates, we can work together to raise the funds to make a difference.

Whatever you can give will help! I greatly appreciate your support and will keep you posted on my progress.

Sincerely,
Thomas Kerlin

Sleep and Dr. Bronners

Here's a photo of Matt's egg "sleeping" with Scott Alan Fertig's image of Baily sleeping. We all need sleep.

I think I read on the Dr. Bronner's label at some point that sleep is the ultimate cosmetic. Amen.

Don't get pulled over when you need sleep, or when you are carrying Dr. Bronner's.

Good night.

Mon amie la rose

Ok, here's some original Amy art from Drink and Draw.

Saw my friend Matt at the Bethlehem Haven event last night, will probably see my friend Terez at an event for cystic fibrosis at the Artifacts Gallery at St. James tonight. It's all good.

Have some Francois Hardy! Oh, and Franco Harris and his wife Dana seem like really great people. All the people affiliated with the Haven seem great, because they probably are great.

Yumi Kori

I am sending my similar necklace I made for Yumi Kori to Tokyo.

Yumi mentioned in her email that my necklace might give her strength, so I'm trying to send it right away. I hope it does!

Beautiful Fish - Beautiful Faces

Here is a beautiful fish painting by artist Brian McCormack. The hands are sold separately (well, not really).

Here is one of my favorite songs by the Flaming Lips: Do you realize?

Scott Alan Fertig - April 24, 1967 – May 2, 2008

This picture is of Tom Sarver of the Tom Museum, holding a sign that Scott Fertig once said was beautiful.

Scott sadly passed away on May 2, and you can read about him and his work here.

I recall that Scott said he really liked the Clash, and he and I talked in the last year about the Joe Strummer documentary by Julien Temple.

By the time of his death, Joe Strummer seemed to be really happy and satisfied with his rich life of creating music for others. You should see the film if you get a chance.

Thanks to Joe Strummer; thanks to Scott Fertig.

Pheasants Deer Prosperity Hiatus Etc

I have some pheasants in my dining room. Here are two. One is wearing a lilac wig, just like Dana in the previous post. My friend Diane told me that pheasants are symbols of prosperity. We'll see about that. Still waiting for my own symbols of prosperity; and have some waiting on me. Some not so patiently.

Saw some folks and some deer in the park. No pheasants, though.

Taking a hiatus to make some jewelry over the next few days. I want to make a necklace for Yumi Kori. All should see her work at the Mattress Factory; it's fun...just hold on to the railings.
