Edited post

A piece of work by Scott Alan Fertig, photographed by me. I keep hearing words like "brave" and "crazy" circulating when talking about others who make dramatic changes. The jury appears to be out on me. I think I'm too busy to know if I care! I met Lynne Conner, PhD, recently, and told her why I wanted to get a PhD, and before she left Pittsburgh for Colby, she told me to go for it. It's good to hear from a few people that you are doing the right thing, even if the majority of people think you are crazy. Here's a PDF of The Arts Experience Initiative, a great little booklet for you to review. Here's a video not about anyone mentioned, but maybe about everyone.

The Rest of It

This is my dog doing what I need to be doing, resting. Instead, I'm up at 4am cleaning my house. Thats ok...it needs to be cleaned and prepared for sale.

Trying to get many things done before my b-day (and retirement!) celebration on August 15. I hope to raise a lot of money for Dana Dolney, who I still need to connect with, and for a fund to preserve the Chevy Mural by Scott Alan Fertig. Some good folks at the Pittsburgh Foundation sent me some information that I think might make this possible.

I tried to stick it out last Sunday at Art What You Got...but almost had a lift-off with the tent. All good, though. Thank you, Polish Hill Civic Association! Also, thank you, Steve Earle for signing the brandy-new Telecaster I'm raffling off on August 15.

Well, keep arting people. And get some rest. This includes you, Susan Constanse! : ) Thanks for all the coordination on Sunday.

Saying Goodbye to My Bike and Hello to my Birthday Party

Jane Fishman and friend Carmela have nothing to do with my motorcycle, but I believe John Bauerlein may be riding it soon anyway.

Jane and Carmela will be at Gist St. July 19. I think me too. Then to Art What You Got in Polish Hill on July 20. Everybody get arting.

Me, I think I'm moving. And I think we're all gonna get happier, soon. I hope.

b-day party reminder. be there.
Don't forget about my (40th, yes, that one, and please do not call me that awful "cougar" word, because I'm ready to slap the next person who does that) b-day party on August 15 at 7pm at Your Inner Vagabond. It's also my retirement party from PNC, where I worked for 13+ years. All welcome.

what's it for?
Raising money for Dana Leigh Dolney.
Raising awareness and money for Scott Alan Fertig's mural. I hope his wife Carolyn can make it, and any of Dana and/or Scott's family can make it as well...but we're not all in Pittsburgh.

Sleeping Bailey

This is a photo of the sleeping Bailey sketch, topped by a necklace made by Wendy Elizabeth Stahlman. I miss Scott Fertig, miss Wendy Stahlman, too. Both wonderful artists gone too soon.

July - the hottest month for Art in Pittsburgh?

I'm sure Count Casimir would agree. I have a new Art Utility Vehicle, by the way. Only Susan Constanse has seen it so far. It's a stealth AUT, so I don't think it can be detected at low flying ranges. Or, low MPG. What can I say? It's got space. I take the bus.

Stuff to do:
1) Refer to Blogski calendar (July 20 festival Polish Hill - be there)
2) Refer to Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council calendar (be everywhere)
3) Refer Amy G. Kerlin in case she needs a job or PhD. She knows she needs a PhD. Unclear on job.

Oh, and check out John Bauerlein. He may be the proud new owner of my sadly unridden pony. The 1983 German pony.
